This captivating Toby jug, hailing from the 1950s, is made of Japanese pottery. Intricately crafted from delicate porcelain and meticulously hand-painted, it embodies the distinctive artistry of that era. The jovial man depicted on its surface, seated in a relaxed pose, exudes a convivial spirit as he quaffs from a beer mug, pipe in hand. His 18th-century attire, consisting of a long coat and tricorne hat, transports us back to a bygone time. Of special note is the 'Made in Japan' marking, attesting to its Japanese provenance. Measuring approximately 13.5 cm in height and 10 cm in diameter, this jug is a delightful addition to any collection. Its imperfections, including three tiny chips under the lip rim, some glaze crazing, and slight colour fading, bear witness to its pre-loved status and add a touch of character. Despite these minor flaws, it remains eminently usable, captivating the eye and inspiring conversation at any gathering.
