This exquisite antique Bleu Célèste floral bouquet Limoges snuff box is a testament to French craftsmanship and artistry. Its exterior boasts a hand-painted floral bouquet relief, delicately rendered and centrally placed, surrounded by a gold gilt border in the elegant French Rococo Scroll form. The hinge, trim, and decorative daisy adornment are crafted from brass, adding a touch of gleaming metallic brilliance. The hinge closes securely, ensuring the safekeeping of its precious contents. Inside, the hand-painted floral motif continues, adorning both the underside of the lid and the base, creating a harmonious visual continuity. Though bearing the marks of time, this pre-loved box remains in excellent condition for its age, boasting only a small hairline crack on the rim beneath the brass trim. Despite this minor imperfection, its utility is unimpaired, making it ideal for storing jewellery, miniature scent bottles, or any cherished small treasures. Its provenance traces back to France, and it bears the marks of its origin; "Vincennes" dated before 1753 by its Mark on the underbase; the etched 'BG / B6 / 36' indicating Limoges, and the mostly worn handwritten inscription 'Made in France.' The faint remnants of 'hand painted' also hint at its meticulous creation. Measuring 2.5' long, 1.5' wide, and 1.5' high, and weighing a modest 46 grams, this Bleu Célèste snuff box is a beautiful and functional work of art, a true embodiment of French heritage and craftsmanship.
